Aircraft Weight & Balance: Weighing, Calculations & Records

Learn what makes an aircraft weight-and-balance result trustworthy, from the actual equipment and fluid condition to the final record. Ten connected lessons explain weighing preparation, tare, signed arms, moments, equipment changes, loading limits, fuel use and percent MAC. Use an illustrated handbook and interactive workshop to follow an original fictional aircraft from scale readings through a revised baseline, trip loading and a traceable handoff.

What's included?

  • 10 lessons + worked weighing and loading examples
  • Online completion certificate
  • 40-question final · 80% to pass
  • 8 two-stage cases + 12 independent decisions
  • 42-page handbook + 8 practical stations

Connect the aircraft condition to the calculation

Establish the installed-equipment and fluid baseline before using scale readings. Distinguish gross readings from net reactions, use one datum and consistent units, and update both weight and signed moment for equipment changes. Check total weight, compartment limits, the CG boundary at actual weight, fuel states and percent MAC.

Work from scale readings to a traceable record

Complete eight connected virtual stations using the original UT-100 training aircraft. Prepare the weighing setup, remove tare, calculate the baseline and equipment change, load the trip, check the CG envelope and fuel states, convert percent MAC and document the established condition. The 12-question independent review requires at least 10 correct answers and all eight critical decisions correct. Pass the separate 40-question final at 80% for the online completion certificate. UT-100 values are fictional exercise data; actual aircraft work requires current applicable instructions, physical checks and an authorized records process.
