SM-200 | Advanced Aircraft Sheet Metal Fabrication & Assembly

Connect drawing, material and process

Use the assembly, BOM, details and process cards together. Keep revision, datum, specific tolerances, grain and complete-part stock requirements tied to the part being built.

Develop and inspect actual geometry

Calculate two-bend development, relief extension and tolerance stacks. Compare flat bearing width, actual seating, hole size and location as distinct inspection requirements.

Build a traceable fabrication handoff

Interpret measured stack and full fastener identity, retain original findings, and identify the fresh affected inspections after a corrected part.
Move beyond a basic riveting coupon with an original four-sheet channel-and-clips project. Work from SM201 Rev B and two distinct PC201 forming cards, calculate flat layouts and stock requirements, explain why a clip that fits between the walls can still miss the flat bearing surface, and interpret the measurements that support an inspected assembly. The interactive lab links entered dimensions to development, relief, fit, hole and rivet graphics, then checks six supplied job records and a fresh independent review. Prerequisite: SM100-level print reading, rivet and tool knowledge or equivalent supervised experience. An original nonserviceable training assembly using source-supported FAA/SRM/supplier practices and explicit fictional process-card inputs. No aircraft repair design, load rating, universal forming factor, fastener substitution or practical fabrication qualification is conferred.

What's included?

  • 8 focused lessons
  • Completion certificate
  • 32-question final examination
  • 8 two-stage diagnostic cases
  • 41-page illustrated handbook + four-sheet drawings

Understand how the complete build fits together

Eight causal lessons and seven calculation/inspection views connect material takeoff, bend development, forming access, relief, fit, prepared holes, specified fasteners and final inspection.

Practice fabrication decisions and calculations

Complete eight lesson checks, six prediction/Apply exercises, eight two-stage jobs, and six fixed records with six entered calculations and 18 findings. The fresh 12-question review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in one attempt. Pass the separate 32-question final with at least 26 correct. Handbook, mastered lab and passed final are required for the WWAOG completion certificate.
