TRACE STARTING, IGNITION AND FAULT ISOLATION
TM-043 | Caravan Starting, Ignition & Fault Isolation
Connected starting and ignition
Power, starter drive, ignition branches, automatic cutoff and cooling
Required measurement bench
Interpret component eligibility, brush seating, resistance and GPU ratings
Evidence before restoration
Separate control, indication and mechanical faults using installation-specific evidence
Understand how electrical power, starter drive, ignition energy, automatic cutoff and indications work together. Includes a 25-page handbook, eight lessons, six prediction exercises, eight two-stage cases and a 40-question final. Distinguish PT6A-114/-114A and PT6A-140 installations and the installed starter/generator before selecting component work.
What's included?
-
8 focused lessons
-
Completion certificate
-
40-question final
-
8 guided fault cases
-
25-page handbook
Understand the connected system
Trace starting power through the contactor and mechanical drive. Explain separate ignition branches, the NORMAL/MOTOR interlock, automatic starter cutoff, cooling and engagement feedback without confusing a command or annunciation with proof of engine response.
Practice defensible fault isolation
Complete six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases, a brush and GPU interpretation bench and twelve independent decisions. Complete all 24 lab requirements and pass the separate 40-question final at 80%. Based on supplied Cessna D2078 Chapters 74 and 80 with component and serial applicability; aircraft-effective tasks govern physical work.
