TRACE ENGINE AIRFLOW AND EXHAUST FAULTS
TM-045 | Caravan Engine Architecture, Induction & Exhaust Diagnostics
Connected airflow and power paths
Follow intake air, gas energy, shaft power and exhaust interfaces
Required diagnostic records
Compare actual mechanism position, physical condition and task-specific criteria
Evidence before replacement
Distinguish a command, mechanical movement and complete restoration evidence
Trace how air reaches the compressor, how the separate turbine systems deliver power, and how the linked inlet vanes establish normal or bypass geometry. Understand the physical relationships before choosing the next check.
What's included?
-
8 focused lessons
-
Completion certificate
-
40-question final
-
8 guided fault cases
-
38-page handbook
Understand the connected system
Work through concrete Caravan inlet and exhaust findings: missing hardware and FOD follow-up, vane endpoint mismatches, duct-specific crack interpretation, initial hanger dimensions, thread engagement and final clearance. Distinguish PT6A-114/-114A and PT6A-140 configurations, including the fitted diffuser and cooler-air interface.
Practice defensible fault isolation
Study the 38-page handbook and complete eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records with 20 classifications and 3 calculations. All 24 lab requirements must be complete. The twelve-decision independent review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in the same attempt. The separate forty-question final requires at least 32 correct answers. The online certificate requires the current handbook, lab and final; practical qualification and operational authorization remain separate.
