TRACE THE INPUTS. UNDERSTAND THE INDICATION. VERIFY THE RESULT.
TM-049 | Caravan G1000 Attitude, Heading & Standby Diagnostics
Connect the aiding inputs
Understand how inertial sensing, GPS, magnetic and air-data inputs support the identified GRS 79 attitude and heading outputs.
Investigate the actual fault
Separate communication status from magnetic accuracy. Use timed electrical-load records and installation evidence to choose a discriminating check.
Verify the standby installation
Check the actual GI 275 aircraft profile, shared pressure paths, completed battery rundown and temperature-qualified repeat evidence.
Build a connected understanding of Caravan attitude, heading and standby diagnostics. Follow the input dependencies, distinguish reset and invalid-output messages, and connect mounting or configuration changes to the calibration they require. Study the named installations using supplied Cessna D2078 Revision 42 (2024) and Garmin 190-02135-00 Revision 1 (2017). Equipment generation and aircraft-effective maintenance data govern actual work.
What's included?
-
8 focused lessons
-
Completion certificate
-
40-question final
-
8 two-stage diagnostic cases
-
49-page illustrated handbook
Understand how the systems work together
Learn why a valid attitude picture can coexist with a magnetic fault, why a green GMU status does not prove heading accuracy, and why an independently powered GI 275 can still share aircraft pressure ports. Keep the installed GRS/GMU generation, aircraft calibration task and standby configuration distinct.
Practice evidence-based fault isolation
Complete eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records with 20 interpretations and three calculations. The 12-decision independent review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in one attempt. Pass the separate 40-question final with at least 32 correct answers. Complete the handbook, mastered lab and final to claim the certificate. Practical qualification and aircraft release remain separate.
