TM-073 | King Air Ignition & Starter/Generator Diagnostics

Connected ignition architecture

Exciter, independent spark branches, torque sensing and automatic demand

Required measurement bench

Interpret spark rate, commutator depth, brush wear and relay chronology

Evidence before restoration

Separate control, indication and mechanical faults using installation-specific evidence
Understand B300/B300C PT6A-60A ignition, auto-ignition and starter/generator interfaces. Includes a 25-page handbook, eight lessons, six prediction exercises, eight two-stage cases and a 40-question final. Trace separate command, protection, indication and physical-response paths using the identified maintenance references.

What's included?

  • 8 focused lessons
  • Completion certificate
  • 40-question final
  • 8 guided fault cases
  • 25-page handbook

Understand the connected system

Follow DC input through exciter conversion and two independent ignition branches. Trace torque-based auto-ignition, arming and annunciation. Explain starter drive, field protection, cross-start current limiting, generator transition and cooling without treating a lamp or motor response as proof of the whole system.

Practice defensible fault isolation

Complete six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases, a required spark, commutator, brush and relay interpretation bench and twelve independent decisions. Complete all 24 lab requirements and pass the separate 40-question final at 80%. Based on supplied Beechcraft 130-590031-11 Chapters 74 and 24; aircraft-effective tasks govern physical maintenance.
