TRACE ENGINE AIRFLOW AND EXHAUST FAULTS
TM-075 | King Air PT6A-60A Engine Architecture, Induction & Exhaust Diagnostics
Connected airflow and power paths
Follow intake air, gas energy, shaft power and exhaust interfaces
Required diagnostic records
Compare actual vane travel, physical condition and task-specific criteria
Evidence before replacement
Distinguish electrical command, mechanical response and complete restoration evidence
Understand the PT6A-60A engine as a connected system. Follow air through the compressor and reverse-flow combustion path, then separate the compressor-driving turbine from the free power turbine and propeller reduction train. Learn what an N1 or N2 observation can establish and which physical path still needs evidence.
What's included?
-
8 focused lessons
-
Completion certificate
-
40-question final
-
8 guided fault cases
-
38-page handbook
Understand the connected system
Investigate the King Air inlet and exhaust installation with the correct system in view. The course separates the movable inertial vanes, their shared mechanical linkage and position reporting from the continuous exhaust-heated inlet lip. Source-specific examples cover measured rigging, clean bypass surfaces, disturbed cowl interfaces, exhaust attachment and applicable fairing geometry.
Practice defensible fault isolation
Study the 38-page handbook and complete eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records with 20 classifications and 3 calculations. All 24 lab requirements must be complete. The twelve-decision independent review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in the same attempt. The separate forty-question final requires at least 32 correct answers. The online certificate requires the current handbook, lab and final; practical qualification and operational authorization remain separate.
